I've decided that I must own every different engine configuration, at least once.

I've owned two turbo fours, and three V6's (two OHV, one DOHC). Up next is a flat six and/or V8. Possibly a flat four as well, if I have space for a project car in the near future.

Good call! I'm trying to own all engine and drivetrain configurations. Adds another dynamic. :)

I've owned three FWD cars and two AWD cars.

The flat six will likely be in a RWD configuration. But yeah, that will add a whole lot more configurations :)

RWD is fantastic IMO, easily my favorite. I've had FWD, AWD, and RWD and definitely prefer it. As far as engines go, I don't think I have had anything too exotic, numerous 4-cylinders, V6s, and V8s.

You need an inline six, everyone needs inline sixes in their life. So far my car history goes (chronologically):

I-5 DOHC (unique starting point!)

I-4 SOHC

I-6 DOHC

V-8 OHV

I-4 SOHC

I-6 OHV

I-4 DOHC

So far I haven't exactly been a fan of the Vs, also yet to have a turbo and I'll need a rotary at some point...

Best buy a 993, then!

I'll definitely have an I-6 at some point. My dad had one I drove a lot, and my mom currently has one (and it's diesel), but to me those shouldn't count.

I-5 I will own when RS2's can be imported to the states ;)

I'm also intending on owning a V10 and a V12, some day.

Most likely it'll be a 997 as I fit a little better. But I do love 993's.

Could also be a second gen Cayman.

All fine choices!

By second-gen do you mean the new 981 or the revised 987 (2009-12)?

Er, sorry, I mean the 981, not the 987.2

I didn't fit very well in the 987...I find the 981 to be much more comfortable.

Right-o. I couldn't work out which was more likely. I love the 981!

I've got a little bucket list with things like this on it. So far I've owned personally a DOHC I4, a quad cam V6, 2 DOHC I6s, a SOHC I4, a pushrod I4 and a pushrod I6 (in the family is a SOHC-per bank F6, a DOHC I5 turbo and a SOHC-per bank V6 twin turbo, but I'm not counting them). To be honest, I'm just going for one of every basic configuration at the moment, so I've ticked off I4, V6 and I6.

Other little goals on my list are 'own a car from every major car producing country' and 'own a car from each decade starting from 1900'. So far I've got Italy, Britain, Germany and Russia, from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s (with Japan, France and 40s and 60s in the family).
